A BIT ABOUT THERAPY

Therapy can come in many different forms as it should because we are complex creatures! At Navigate Wellness we take a personalized and eclectic approach in the healing journey. The first several sessions consist of making sure the client is feeling safe, building a therapeutic alliance, and the process of learning each other. The therapeutic space is a microcosm of the bigger world that each one of us exists in every day. Learning coping skills, understanding how relationships function, and deeply coming to know your beliefs are all components to therapy at Navigate Wellness.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Common Questions

WHAT WILL THE FIRST SESSION LOOK LIKE?

Typically, the first session is the client and therapist getting to know one another. The client will sign all appropriate documents needed to being therapy (HIPPA consent, Privacy Policy, application, and Informed Consent, Releases of information if needed). Sessions typically are 50-60 minutes long, but may be longer if you and the therapist have designated that time.

Some clients feel very comfortable sharing many details about themselves and their life right away, while others may need several sessions to share those details. The therapist will ask questions about you to help them better understand you, your life, and what makes you tick! It is important to feel safe and comfortable enough to tell the therapist when you want to share and when you would rather wait, however, building trust and having transparency within the theraputic relationship are essential building blocks.

WHAT TYPE OF THERAPY TECHNUES ARE USED?

We use an array of theraputic techniques at Navigate Wellness! It is strongly believed that the clinicians need to be equipped with many tools, modalities, and skills to fit the needs of the many types of clients we serve. The proivders at Navigate Wellness are Dually certified in Substance Use Disorders, Trauma, and Alternative Healing. We also feel strongly that therapy should be an interactive and engaging process with your therapist! The goal is for the client to walk away from each session learning something new (and the therapist too!) If there is a specific type of therapy you are looking for please do not hesitate to ask and we are happy to guide!

HOW DO I KNOW YOU ARE THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR ME?

We believe it is crucial for a client to feel that there therapist IS a good fit! Clients should feel safe. Clients should know that their therapist is authentic, genuine, and that their alliance is fostering positive progress. We always offer phone consults with clients prior to any formal appointments so clients can ask any questions they would like and to get a sense of the therapist's personality.

In some circumstances, it may be available to meet with the therapist for a 15 minute consult prior to making any decision for therapy. Please contact the office for this request.
